THE ARTIST
Jan Toorop (1858–1928) was a Dutch-Indonesian painter and graphic artist, known for his contributions to Symbolism and Art Nouveau movements. Born in Java, Indonesia, Toorop moved to the Netherlands at a young age. He developed a unique style characterized by intricate line work and bold compositions. Toorop's early work was influenced by Pointillism and Impressionism, but he later embraced Symbolism, often depicting religious and mystical themes.
